5 Things Friday – Nov. 30

This weekend, holiday celebrations are kicking into full gear. As the first weekend of December, there are tree lightings and holiday bazaars and community parades happening all over the north country. We’ve chosen five things going on throughout the weekend from all over the north country that are both festive, and family friendly.

1.) A night of lights and sounds. The annual downtown tree lighting in Watertown, on Public Square, is slated for 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. tonight. There will be performances by local choral groups, free hot chocolate and coffee from the Downtown Business Association and Santa and Mrs. Claus will be making their first official appearance. The tree will be light and music will start at 6 p.m. The display of LED lights, synchronized to a variety of holiday songs, runs every 30 minutes each night from 4:30 to 10 p.m. through Wednesday, Jan. 2.  Every year, this event draws dozens of families, decked in their winter best, for a festive night on the Square.
