New York’s other ‘Central Park’

By the 1850s, many American cities were undergoing significant changes. Hundreds of thousands of people across the nation had left their homes in outlying rural areas and moved into urban centers looking to fill jobs created by the Industrial Revolution.

Symphony Syracuse to perform July 3 in Watertown

Again this year, the Symphony Syracuse will perform in Watertown’s Thompson Park in observance of Independence Day.

This year’s concert begins at 5:15 p.m. July 3 with a performance by Fred and the Eds, followed by the symphony.

New York State Zoo at Thompson Park Zoo-to-Do fundraiser

The New York State Zoo at Thompson Park hosted its Zoo-to-Do fundraiser on Nov. 30 at the Black River Valley Club, Watertown. The event raised $31,855 for the zoo’s educational outreach program.
